It’s #GBBO tonight and I’ve finished the first draft of my #RomCom

This evening is a good evening and not just because it’s the final of the Great British Bake Off – which I intend to watch – but also because I have finished the first draft of my romantic comedy. It’s come in at 84,912 words and has taken me five months and one week to write. Not bad when you consider I’ve only worked on it evenings and weekends. It’s going in the cupboard to ferment for a month or so before I start on the second draft. Then it will be beta read, then there’ll be third draft, then it will be proof read – not by me – hurray. Publication is likely to be Feb/March 2015. Here’s the current blurb:

27 year old Ella Taylor has a crap life:

  • Her mum’s recently died
  • She’s been cheated out of a promotion at work
  • Her new boss is a Barbie doll who models herself on Gwyneth Paltrow
  • She’s living in a horrible bedsit
  • The hot guy upstairs thinks she’s an idiot in a Kermit onesie

Now’s she inherited a shabby, run down thatched cottage in some hick village with a bunch of conditions attached….Kermit onesie

At the moment the title is The Spring of Life.

I’ve been publishing excerpts from each chapter, though not the final few – I don’t want to give the whole story away – ha ha. These can be found on this blog.

I’ll keep you posted as to progress and I hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.

PS A great artist is working on the cover, a Kermit onesie may be included.

About cjmorrow13

I love to write about everyday life as though viewed side on - I like to catch the object which moves in the corner of your eye and disappears when you turn. I'm fascinated by the ordinary man, or woman, who isn't quite what they seem. I like to see the magic and mystery in every situation and relationship. Life intrigues me and I often find it amusing. When I don't like what's going on in the world, I write another one. Join me.
